Steven Miller

Co-founder; Phase Entertainment

Steven Miller is a dynamic music producer and executive whose varied experience
spans engineering, arrangement, management, marketing, branding, and building
companies that operate at the intersection of art and technology.

At Windham Hill Records, his innovative productions, synergistic marketing plans,
and expansion into burgeoning multimedia platforms helped build the company
from a start up into a prestigious brand icon. Landmark albums such as George
Winston’s "December” and Michael Hedges’ "Aerial Boundaries” sold millions of
units while establishing an entirely new genre.

And as one of the first producers to fully embrace digital recording technology, his
vibrant recordings were the de facto choice of hi-fi stores when demonstrating the
CD’s extended sonic capabilities during the transition years from vinyl. In
recognition of his work, Steven was appointed to the board of the RIAA’s Compact
Disc Group.

During that same period, he collaborated with Steve Jobs to create the musical
components for Apple’s IIe, Lisa, and the groundbreaking Macintosh.

From there, Steven went on to found the Hip Pocket/Windham Hill Jazz record label
and then move to RCA Records, where he oversaw talent acquisition, initiated the
digitization of their historic catalog, and co-found the Novus division.

Additional industry endeavors include consulting services for companies such as
Deloitte, Disney’s Skywalker Sound, SiriusXM Radio, and Discovery Channel;
composing music for clients such as General Motors, A&E Network, Miller Brewing,
and Mars Candy; partnership in a Hong Kong based multi-media company; and
creating the Ocean Way Drums brand of computer plug-ins.

And through his Cacophony Productions, Steven has continually worked in the
recording studio with a wide range of platinum artists - such as Dave Matthews
Band, Pink, Bobby McFerrin, Backstreet Boys, Suzanne Vega, Manhattan Transfer,
Jonas Brothers, and Toad the Wet Sprocket.

With his vast experience and broad skill set, Steven presents a highly informed
overview of what it takes to be successful in the fluid, constantly evolving
entertainment landscape.
