From Law Student to Lifelong JGO Leader

September 30, 2026

For some Jewish grad students, finding JGO is about finding community on campus. For Callie Kramsky, that community became something she carried with her long after law school ended.

Callie first became involved with the Jewish Grad Organization (JGO) while attending Brooklyn Law School, where she served as President of the Jewish Law Students Association (JLSA). When JGO reached out, she was introduced to a broader community that quickly became an important part of her law school experience.

JGO supported the club with funding, but the relationship went far beyond financial support. Through guidance, resources, and connections, JGO helped Callie and her fellow student leaders create meaningful Jewish programming and bring students together.

"I felt very connected to my Judaism during law school," Callie shared. "But what has been so meaningful is that my connection to JGO didn't end when I graduated [in 2024]."

Today, Callie is an attorney, but she remains an active part of the JGO community. Over the past two years, she has attended JELCON (Jewish Executive Leadership Conference) and completed both the JEWL (Jewish Executive Women’s Leadership) and Sloan Fellowships, continuing to find opportunities for Jewish learning, professional development, and connection.

Through these programs, Callie has heard from inspiring speakers, learned alongside other Jewish professionals, and reflected on the role Jewish values can play in her life and career.

"I've learned that being a Jewish leader doesn't have to be something that stays within the walls of school. It can be something I carry with me as an attorney and throughout my professional life."

That's exactly the kind of lasting connection JGO hopes to create.

For Callie, being part of JGO has meant having a Jewish community beyond law school. It's knowing that she can walk into a room at JELCON or a JGO Fellowship and immediately feel connected to the people around her.

"Being Jewish, to me, means being surrounded by people who share similar values and knowing that you can walk into a room and immediately feel connected to the people around you. I feel that deeply at JELCON and at JGO's Fellowships."

But Callie's story doesn't stop with staying involved. Now, she's beginning to give back.

Having been on the student side herself, she can offer something uniquely valuable to the next generation of JGO students: firsthand experience. She can share advice, provide mentorship, and help students navigate the same questions she once faced.

That's the power of a community designed to last.

What began as JGO supporting a Jewish law student at Brooklyn Law has grown into a lasting connection to Jewish community, professional development, and mentorship. Callie is now on the other side of law school, but JGO remains part of her Jewish and professional life.

At JGO, we believe our relationship with students shouldn't end at graduation. We continue walking alongside Jewish grads as they build their careers, develop as leaders, and navigate life beyond campus.

And over time, something powerful happens. The students we support become the mentors, advisors, leaders, and supporters who help create those same opportunities for the students who come next.

Callie's journey is a reminder that when you build a Jewish community that lasts, the impact doesn't end when students leave campus.

It grows with them.
