Joel heads Lowe's national retail platform, Retail reVision, targeting assets that can be developed or redeveloped into mixed use properties. He recently led Rockwood's retail property investment business including oversight of all strategy, development, acquisitions, leasing, management, and dispositions.
Prior to joining Rockwood, he served as a Director at BlackRock Realty. Mr. Mayer's responsibilities included sourcing new acquisitions, identifying and working with joint venture partners on new retail investments. Before joining BlackRock, Mr. Mayer was Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Development for California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. In this role he was responsible for managing the national expansion of CPK and its existing real estate throughout the country. At CPK, Mr. Mayer oversaw site selection, lease negotiation, development and construction of all new units and renovations of numerous other restaurants nationwide during his tenure. Prior to joining CPK, Mr. Mayer was Senior Vice President of Madison Marquette where he directed leasing and portfolio management of Madison Marquette's properties in the Western United States. He joined Madison Marquette in conjunction with Madison Marquette's acquisition of Farallon Retail Services. He had been a partner at Farallon and opened their Southern California office.
Mr. Mayer is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). At ULI he is a past Chair of the Commercial Retail Development (Blue) Council and currently is a vice chair of membership.
