Dr. Lawrence M. Weiss is the Chief Medical Officer at Fulgent Genetics, a premier molecular and pathology diagnostics company at the forefront of hereditary and rare disease, cancer, and COVID testing.  

Dr. Weiss holds a BS from the University of Maryland, where he graduated summa cum laude and served as class valedictorian, and a MD, also from University of Maryland, summa cum laude, and received the Faculty Gold Medal for highest achievement.  He trained as a pathologist at Brigham & Women's hospital in Boston, and then joined the faculty of Stanford University.  He spent over 20 years at City of Hope, serving as Chairman of Pathology and President of the Medical Staff.  He was Medical Director at Clarient, and had roles as Medical Director, Chief Scientific Officer, and Chief Medical Officer at NeoGenomics.  

Dr. Weiss' research is centered in the malignant lymphomas, and his laboratory discovered the first molecular evidence linking EBV with Hodgkin lymphoma. He is author of over 500 papers and book chapters and over a dozen books (including one on medieval history).  He has won numerous awards, including the Arthur Purdy Stout, Benjamin Castleman, and Ramzi Cotran Awards in pathology.
